Green with catlike pupils.
- Sandy yellow-brown fur over his entire body save palms of his hands and soles of his feet.
- Reddish-brown hair runs in a Mohawk style ridge from the crown of his head down the back of his neck to shoulders and in the form of eyebrows and running along the sides of his jaw, normally kept closely shaved.
7' 2"
Lawrence is a visible mutant, possessing a distinctly nonhuman appearance strongly reminiscent of a humanoid hyena, basically that of a gnoll. At 7' 2" and 240 lbs in weight he's tall with a lean albeit muscular frame, with a smooth coat of sandy yellow-brown fur. His head is very hyena-like with a Mohawk style mane of coarser reddish-brown fur, green catlike eyes, pointed ears and a definite muzzle and strong jaws. His torso and arms are more or less humanlike, albeit quite broad shoulders and a wide chest give him a somewhat top-heavy look and his arms quite long, his large but dextrous hands having each digit tipped with a claw-like nail. Lawrence has a bushy two-foot tail, quite expressive and a good indicator of mood similar to a dog. His legs are quite hyena-like, with a bow-legged gait and digitigrade stance with what appears to be a reversed knee actually an extended ankle joint and each foot bearing four large padded toes equipped with claw-like nails and prohibiting the wearing of regular boots or shoes.
Lawrence's powers are mostly innate, a factor of his altered physiology and without visual manifestation, though the use of his healing on others requires transmission of his saliva, though his saliva has no distinct characteristics to differ from the regular variety on visual examination.

- Lawrence is an avid reader especially science fiction and fantasy with his main loves being the works of J.R.R Tolkien and somewhat of a guilty pleasure, J K Rowling's Harry Potter series.
- An amateur writer and poet he has an unfinished epic fantasy novel whose completion is an indefinite process and a rather large and eclectic variety of poems of fair skill.
- He's also a keen gamer with a fierce love for Dungeons and Dragons, playing in and occasionally DMing in a long-running campaign game at the mansion.
- He also occasionally participates in live-action roleplay or Larping, usually via image inducer but on occasion in 'costume' as a gnoll barbarian.
- As an offset of his love for Role-playing in costume and childhood practice, he's skilled in metalworking, capable of forging his own armour and swords.
- Has love for climbing, quite frequently making his way up trees or often to the roof of the mansion in his free time, often to compose poems.
Lawrence is a feral mutant and altered physiology giving him an appearance closely resembling an anthromorphic hyena or gnoll and heightened physical abilities common to most feral mutants as follows.
Heightened Physical Attributes
Lawrence's speed, agility, dexterity and stamina are around peak human condition, considered on a par with Olympic level athletes or gymnasts while his level of strength is naturally consistent with a man of his size and build engaged in regular intensive exercise.
Heightened Senses
Lawrence possesses superhuman senses of smell, taste and hearing, heightened to around ten times the normal human level. While his vision is generally equivalent to a normal human's he possesses superior night vision, requiring roughly one-sixth the level of light and perhaps equal to a cats. He also has a slightly heightened sense of touch, perhaps twice that of a normal human and concentrated on areas with exposed skin such as the fingers and palms of his hand and toes and soles of his feet, as well as around the ears and nose.
Natural Weapons: Lawrence possesses claw-like nails on his fingers and toes not sharp enough to make effective weapons beyond a painful scratch but aiding him in digging or climbing. His jaw strength and teeth can exert a bite force equivalent to roughly 3000 pounds and capable of biting through substances as strong as inch-thick steel plate. Vocal Mimicry: Lawrence's vocal cords allow him to replicate precisely any sound previously heard and he possesses an eidetic memory regarding sound.
Healing Enzymes/Saliva: Present in his bloodstream Lawrence possesses enzymes allowing for immunity to almost all forms of disease or toxin, and heightened healing of minor injuries such as bruises or scratches within hours and more serious injuries such as fractures or more serious gashes at perhaps twice the normal rate. Though unconfirmed his enzymes are believed to potentially retard aging allowing for an extended lifespan.
Through his saliva, Lawrence can pass on similar though heightened healing properties to others, capable of almost instantaneously healing minor cuts, scrapes or bruises and more serious injuries to heal at around ten times the normal rate as well as curing of disease or toxin within a matter of hours.
Weaknesses
The structure of Lawrence's legs and digitigrade stance can put pressure on his ankle and knee joints, leaving him somewhat prone to ligament and muscle strain or injury to tendons through overexertion. While generally agile, a higher centre of gravity can make him more prone to losing his balance or tripping than a regular human in similar situations.
His heightened sense of touch also makes Lawrence more sensitive to pain with a sharp blow to the nose or ears, as well as inducing disorientation can effectively incapacitate Lawrence for a brief period of time. While not a weakness as such, he's also very sensitive to being scratched behind the ears or under the chin, and rather susceptible to tickling.
Lawrence has a degree of light sensitivity, generally coping with regular daylight though preferring sunglasses for comfort but intense sunlight or stronger light sources can be dazzling or result in migraines or temporary blindness for prolonged exposure. His enhanced senses of hearing and smell also make him more vulnerable to sensory overload or temporary deafness in the case of loud sounds or nausea from intense smells.
Lawrence's vocal cords possess no special resistance to strain or injury with a reproduction of sounds such as Sean Cassidy's sonic scream or a jet engine would potentially damage them rendering him mute until healed. He can only reproduce sounds within the normal range of human vocalisation.
Lawrence is unable to regenerate severed limbs or damage to internal organs and in general serious injuries while healing slightly more quickly are still as incapacitating as for a regular human. In general, he's got the same level of mortality as any regular human aside from examples listed.
Healing others requires direct contact with saliva to enter the bloodstream to achieve healing, whether applied to the site of injury or through oral transmission in case of toxin or disease. The effects of healing are not instantaneous in case of more serious injuries achieving effects through a rapid acceleration of the healing process. Healing cannot replace severed limbs or destroyed organs or massive tissue loss/destruction.

With his imposing height and bestial features, Lawrence Cutter stands out amongst his fellow mutants, also in his case being one of those rarer mutants who manifested their abilities or at least visible mutation at birth. Fortunately for Lawrence, he was one of the lucky ones to be born to loving and accepting parents who gave him a secure and happy if somewhat sheltered childhood. This was perhaps not surprising in his case, being himself born to mutant parents with his father Ranulf Cutter himself a feral mutant with lycanthropic shape-shifting as his gift and his mother Leigh Durghess a telepathic with the additional gift of greatly slowed aging. Getting the nature of his mutation from his father as with his older brother Martin and younger brother Robert, it could be said he's more of his mother's son taking after her in temperament and artistic tendencies or his beloved sister Helena.
Something of a gentle giant, Lawrence would prefer to stay in the background, something not really possible given his looks, though always having looked this way he's come to accept himself, even take pride in being unique. Still, he's always cautious, knowing the tendency for others to judge a book by his cover, particularly given his resemblance to a hyena, though the main quality he'd share personality wise would be his laughter. What feral instincts he does possess, bloodlust or anger he's long since learnt to channel harmlessly. He likes to burn off physical energy with climbing or metalworking learnt from his father and to channel his energies into his roleplaying or his poetry.
Shy and polite if maybe reserved at first impression with those he doesn't know well, with family and friends especially his fellow X-Men, he's more boisterous and carefree, ready with a whooping laugh or one of his friendly hugs, albeit still gentle and cautious especially with the younger and smaller residents. Loyal to those who earn his trust and protective of innocents, he's dedicated himself fully to the ideals of Xavier, finding them much in accord to those taught by his parents and it's a confident, stalwart Lawrence that stands with the X-Men. Fighting if he must he much prefers the role of a healer, preferring to leave the fighting to his alter ego, gnoll barbarian Gartrir Redmane.
Born in Northumbria, England and of mixed Norwegian and Scottish descent, most of Lawrence's childhood was spent in peaceful seclusion with his parents, grandmother and siblings in Durghess Hall, an old manor house owned by his grandmother. Having met in later life, both Ranulf and Leigh nearing their first century and ready to settle down and raise their family, Lawrence was their third child and a welcome addition. With a gruff and boisterous but loving older brother in Martin, Lawrence has little choice but to tag along in a lot of adventures and rough and tumble, even as he might have preferred to explore the moors and forests with his sister or spend time in the company of his beloved grandmother and hear the stories of her almost two and a half centuries of life. His younger brother Robert, charming but conniving and frequently attempting to lead his siblings astray, Lawrence had maybe more of a strained relationship with.
With Lawrence and both of his brothers bearing distinct feral mutations, attending school wasn't really an option with Lawrence and his siblings homeschooled, their grandmother and parents providing a broad education from collective centuries of accumulative knowledge and experience covering both such basic necessities as maths and reading and writing, through to geography, basic sciences and especially history and folklore. Reading was very much encouraged, Lawrence, in particular, finding a love for literature especially fantasy and early discovery of J.R.R Tolkien's work as well as C.S Lewis' Narnia chronicles inspiring a life-long passion and an escape from his isolated, sheltered albeit loving childhood. From his father, he picked up metalworking and crafting though perhaps the greatest gift was a chance purchase of Dungeons and Dragons rulebooks his father brought back and also proving another escape for Lawrence, who soon roped his siblings into playing the game.
Certain other aspects of Lawrence’s mutation developed over time, with Lawrence discovering that cuts and bruises tended to heal quickly and he never seemed to become ill after a certain age. The discovery that his saliva had healing tendencies came with a friendly roughhousing session with his brothers resulting in an inadvertent bite for Martin that healed more quickly than expected. Less violent was discovering that he had a keen memory for sound and ability to precisely reproduce such sounds with his voice, though it was Robert whom displayed the greatest talent for considering possible applications for his power. Likewise with Robert manifesting his telepathy ability to block others perception of him or his 'psychic stealth' and Martin's vocal hypnosis it was an exciting time and with his sister Helena's developing talents for manipulating plant life things got a lot more interesting.
It was a chance discovery though by a curious teenager that would lead to Lawrence's first real forays into the wider world when in an echo of the old fairy of Beauty and the Beast someone got into the grounds of Durghess Hall and in the rose gardens encountered a beast. Perhaps being a mutant herself and recently manifesting her own gifts, maybe recognising a fellow dreamer or that he was just as nervous as she was, Deirdre Lockhart cautiously extended a hand which was taken in an oversized furry clawed hand and given a cautious sniff. A couple of hours later and Lawrence and Deirdre were found, bonded over a mutual love of 'The Hobbit' and Deirdre was cautiously accepted by the rest of the family, becoming a frequent visitor. With her illusion casting abilities, it was also Deirdre with her illusion casting that would allow Lawrence to appear as a normal human allowing him to venture in her company, and often with his siblings into the outside world.
The next few years saw various adventures and misadventures, Lawrence often finding himself a stranger in a strange land, familiar with the mainstream of human society mostly through books or television and very little contact with social situations outside of his family, and it took a good deal of learning, his brother Robert proving the most adept and Martin confirming a preference for the wilderness. Most difficult for Lawrence was witnessing the crueller side of human nature, particularly a seeming intolerance for anything deemed different though enough glimpses of kindness, compassion and altruism to convince him that while he was wary of humans as a whole, many perhaps most of them were decent enough, just that he needed to be cautious, not withdraw entirely or as it seemed with Robert, become seduced by certain elements and break away from the family to follow his own path.
For a time the family drifted apart more or less, Martin venturing into the Scottish highlands seeking the areas of true wilderness only occasionally touching base with his siblings and parents, Robert more or less disowned after he went his own way, his talents put to use as a minor player in the criminal underworld of Newcastle and his sister finding her happiness running a successful florist. Deirdre herself would fall out of touch for a little while, pursuing a successful career as a singer and forming her group, 'Children Of Danann'. Happy for her success, Lawrence would remain in contact via letter and phone call, promising one day to accept her invitation to come and see her at a concert with a free ticket waiting for him.
It would be a while before Lawrence would make his own way, not least with his natural caution regarding his physical mutation making it hard to keep a low profile, and an overall lack of confidence something his father finally decided to take in hand with taking him for an extended trip back to his birthplace of Norway with several months hiking in the wilderness, introducing him to the arts of metalwork and crafting and as with his early gift, introducing him to something called larping or live action role play, an activity where Lawrence's appearance could simply be a remarkably good costume and hopefully helping build his confidence. Somewhat slowly it worked, and at the age of twenty-five, Lawrence was finally ready to accept the invitation Deirdre had kept open the last few years, returning to England and Manchester a city he'd last ventured to some years ago during one of his outings with Deirdre.
The years that had passed and the fame that Deirdre had acquired as a singer seemed to have changed her little, still the dreamer and kind and gentle friend that Lawrence remembered and she seemed equally as fond of him still, while eager to introduce her to the greatest change in her life. Richard Lockhart had obviously been told what to expect, Deirdre's husband happy to shake hands with the seven-foot plus hyena-man without flinching and seemed quite genuine in his welcome. Lawrence liked him immediately, happy for Deirdre even if reminded there was still so much he had to experience in the world. That seemed confirmed when Robert surprisingly showed up to the concert, apparently regretful over the way he’d fallen out of touch with the family and wanting to reconcile with his brother and their old friend. Cautiously Lawrence decided to put aside his suspicions, happy to see his brother and hoping they could enjoy the concert together.
Robert expressed a desire to catch up on old times with Deirdre and Lawrence before the concert, suggesting a visit to the same pub they'd drank their first beers in all those years ago. Readily agreeing they left Richard and the rest of Deirdre's band to set up for the concert, only to be interrupted a couple of hours later with some tragic news. Richard had been found dead, apparently strangled. Deirdre in a state of utter shock as Lawrence tried to comfort her and Robert suggested they get back to see if they could help out. It was Robert though that pulled Lawrence aside once they arrived back, with a regretful look and an apology, telling Lawrence he really shouldn't have been here and he's only doing this to keep him safe, Lawrence barely having time to register before something struck him on the head and consciousness faded.
Awakening with a sore head, Lawrence found himself again facing Robert whom again apologised but told Lawrence it was all he could do to persuade someone called Lycanthropy to let Lawrence keep his life. Deirdre though, she was going to belong to Lycanthropy now, and it was the only way to pay off his debt, keep himself alive and that he'd never really wanted to hurt anyone. That was about as far as he got before Lawrence experienced perhaps the first real occasion of true anger in his life, a surge of adrenaline propelling him forward, silencing his brother by inflicting a broken jaw and a rather serious concussion and intending to hunt down this Lycanthropy and save Deirdre, hoping he wouldn't be too late.
While too late to rescue Deirdre singlehandedly, Lawrence was on the scene in time to provide some assistance as a group of armed police and a ginger-haired Irishman confronted Lewis Reinhart aka Lycanthropy, an empathic feral and a stalker with a dangerous obsession with Deirdre Lockhart. In the end, Lycanthropy was taken down and into custody along with Lawrence's brother and a grieving Deirdre and a subdued Lawrence would meet Sean Cassidy. A mutant himself, it was Sean whom would be some help to the both of them and help provide Lawrence with the direction he'd been looking for and Deirdre to find something new to live for. Sean would put them both in contact with a Professor Charles Xavier.
After the somewhat harrowing journey to the USA, it was quite a relief for Lawrence to arrive at the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters, the mansion very much reminding him of his childhood home complete with extensive grounds for wandering in and in Charles Xavier, someone he'd come to see as a beloved mentor and father figure with a dream for peace between humans and mutants and a world where those appearing different like Lawrence could walk openly without fear or hatred. It was a dream that Lawrence was to take to heart and to dedicate himself in doing his part to fulfil it.
Though it would take time to settle in and get to know the fellow residents, Lawrence would perhaps for the first time truly blossom and while he might never entirely lose the shy and reserved exterior he soon developed in confidence and showing the playful, boisterous and cheerful part of himself only his family and close friend Deirdre had previously seen. He also came to finally see himself as being lucky, perhaps sheltered and isolated in his childhood but with a loving family and secure home environment unlike many of the others at the mansion, even those with no visible mutation often having faced tragedy or prejudice. As such, he took it upon himself to do his part in being a big brother/uncle to the younger residents, those whom might at first be nervous of the hyena-like mutant soon coming to see him as the gentle giant he truly was.
Lawrence would also find some newfound freedom via the use of an image inducer, enabling him via a holographic image to appear as a normal human and venture into public places without drawing undue attention. He, of course, made full use of this, eagerly immersing himself in experiences he’d previously missed out on and helping bolster his newly found confidence. Steadily training and further honing the use of his mutant abilities, becoming further adept with his vocal mimicry and the full applications of the healing enzymes within his saliva, he in time stepped up to become a full-fledged X-Man. Lawrence chose the codename Leucrotta at Deirdre's suggestion, naming himself for a mythical beast with a hyena-like appearance and ability to mimic voices. He also would take his part in teaching at the school, part-time as one of the PT instructors and also teaching a class in metalworking passing on the skills his father taught him. There's also his personal baby, the long-running Dungeons and Dragons campaign he's set up and still runs to the present day.
Increasingly though Lawrence has found himself drawn to the role of healer, greatly influenced by someone he's come to see as a mentor and perhaps another father figure, Hank McCoy, a man of similarly bestial appearance and gentle demeanour. It was Hank who would study the properties of Lawrence's enzymes in an on-going project to potentially isolate them and perhaps develop new forms of medicine from them. It was also Hank whom encouraged Lawrence to pursue a new cause for himself, to study for an M.D, Lawrence somewhat hesitant at first but dedicating himself to pursuing this goal and for the time being also assisting in the Med Lab as an assistant and trainee doctor.
Recently Lawrence has come to another realisation, though a possibility that hasn't overly surprised him given his parents and the nature of their mutations. If not stopping altogether in the last few years, his rate of aging seems to have slowed dramatically after reaching what could be considered his physical prime. Whether it's due to the simple fact that a lot of feral mutants tend to have an extended lifespan or another effect of the healing enzymes in his blood doesn't really matter, Lawrence mainly considering that he could potentially have a long life left to live and after spending a large part of it sheltered and relatively isolated he intends to make the most of each day that comes and enjoy it to the full.
