Leader of the Brotherhood
Although Max has been through quality public schooling in his early years, all his higher education was acquired by self-learning. He has shown genius level intellect and competence in the areas of Genetic Engeneering, Engeneering and Robotics.
- Mutant Rights
- Learning
- Chess
Max has shown to be an efficient hand-to-hand combatant, weapons handler and strategist. He is above all a survivor.
Magnetokinesis: Magneto is an immensely powerful mutant, easily one the greatest on the planet. He is capable of generating and manipulating all forms of magnetism to achieve a variety of grandiose and devastating effects.
Ferrokinesis: At a low level, Magneto can effortlessly launch pieces of metal like bullets, alter projectile trajectories of bullets, and even manipulate the standard mechanics of tool. For grander feats, he can easily lift, immobilizing, and crumble giant structures like. His precision with this power also allows him to launch countless projectiles in rapid succession and maintain the structural integrity of his targets. Likewise, he is able to perform several feats at once, despite the amount of concentration required. Later, thanks to the guidance of Apocalypse, Magneto was able to increase the range and scale of his powers to manipulate Earth's magnetic poles (causing destruction on a global scale). He can also forcibly extract the metal within a target, though killing a living target (albeit Magento may have intentionally killed the guard out of spite).
Magnetic Flight: Magneto can fly by gliding on the magnetic fields he creates, or by having metal on him and moving with it. Alternatively, he can also draw himself to metal, as he did board a moving train.
Metal Sense: Magneto is able to sense the presence of metals, as they are crucial for the effective use of his powers. Even with Wolverine's impressive stealth skills, Magneto was able to easily detect Wolverine's adamantium skeleton from a great distance away.
Magnetic Shield: Magneto is able to conjure a vast shield of magnetic energy, which the X-Men were unable to penetrate, forcing Quicksilver and Mystique to instead resort to reasoning with him.
Metallic Bonding: Magneto can implant metal to objects or people in mere seconds as he did to fuse train rails into the Sentinels to let him control them later. It is presumed that Magneto re-coated Wolverine's claws with adamantium (after the latter's encounter with Silver Samurai).
Weaknesses: Magneto's ability to wield his superhuman powers effectively is dependent upon his physical condition. When severely injured, his body is unable to withstand the strain of manipulating great amounts of magnetic forces.

Max Eisenhardt was born in Nuremberg, Germany, while his parents were from Dusseldorf. In 1935, the Nuremberg Laws which were two: the Law for the Protection of German Blood and German Honour, which forbade marriages and extramarital intercourse between Jews and Germans and the employment of German females under 45 in Jewish households; and the Reich Citizenship Law, which declared that only those of German or related blood were eligible to be Reich citizens, the remainder being classed as state subjects without citizenship rights. Later that year, the Romani were also added to the roster of enemies of the race-based state.
While still attending school, Max was attracted to a young Sinti Romani girl named Magda, who was the daughter of the school cleaner, Anya Lehnsherr. Max would do things such as create necklaces and excel in sporting events to gain the girl’s attention. While returning from school one day, Max found his paternal uncle Erich beaten and wearing a sign saying that he had shamed a German woman.
At a school event, Max won a javelin competition to impress Magda and the following day was accused of cheating. Max was told to either give up his medal or recreate the throw with a "regulation" javelin. After winning the competition a second time, Max was again accused of cheating, expelled, and beaten by the other children. In 1936, Magda and her mother were deported into the Marzahn detention camp because of their Romani heritage.
In 1938, after traveling with his father Jakob to see Major Scharf, whom he had saved during World War I, his father was left waiting for the major and was beaten by a troupe of Nazis for "making such a trouble" in Scharf's office and resisting arrest. After hours of beating, Major Scharf threw Jakob out of his office, stating that they would have killed him and that they were even. As things worsened in Germany after Reichskristallnacht, Max’s family fled to Warsaw, Poland.
There they lived in the Jewish section of Warsaw where the Nazis later built the Warsaw Ghetto in October 1940. His time in the ghetto molded Max into a smuggler of food and supplies. When the Nazis started to deport ghetto inhabitants to the Treblinka extermination camp in July 1942, Max and his family escaped from Warsaw.
On their way to their hideout, while passing through a forest, they were captured by an Einsatzgruppen, which were SS paramilitary death squads that were responsible for mass killings, primarily by shooting, during World War II. As they were about to be executed, Jakob saved Max's life by pushing him out of the firing line without anyone noticing. The corpses of all his family, mother, father, uncle and sister, and Max were buried in a mass grave.
Upon regaining consciousness after the fall, Max found himself between the dead bodies. He managed to climb out of the mass grave and left a memorial rock for each member of his family and also the other people who were captured and killed with them. With a prayer for his loved ones, he left the place and wandered the forest alone for a few days.
Max was found by a couple of Polish Jews, who were also trying to escape the Nazi rule in occupied Poland, already hungry and thirsty and barely alive. They took him in and cared for the young boy for the next year. But again, his safety wouldn’t last.
In 1943, after being found with his new foster parents, Max was sent and imprisoned in Auschwitz, Poland. Under this stress, his powers began to manifest. Even with four guards pulling him away, he managed to bend open a heavy metal gate separating him from his foster parents before being knocked unconscious by another guard upon his arrival at the camp.
While at Auschwitz, he first encountered a mutant Nazi collaborator named Sebastian Shaw, under the alias of Dr. Klaus Schmidt. At first Shaw treated him in a friendly fashion, offering him chocolate and asking him to simply move a Reichsmark coin. However, when Max was unable to do so, Shaw murdered his foster mother in front of him, in order to "unlock" the boy's powers through his anger. His magnetism subsequently killed two SS troopers and destroyed an entire lab room in a fit of grief and rage.
Pleased, Shaw then tortured and experimented on him for an undisclosed length of time, probably months, attempting to further expand his magnetic powers. Yet, when his physical condition began to deteriorate due to a bout of hepatitis, Max’s powers became dormant again and Shaw lost his interest in the boy, abandoning him to his fate and leaving Auschwitz.
But the boy found a wannabe a savior in his old teacher, Fritz Kalb, who had been assigned to the Kanada Kommando, those who sorted the belongings of the new arrivals. He helped Max as best as he could to survive now that he had been joined with all the other inmates.
Fritz tried to make Max be assigned to his Kommando, but instead, due to having caused trouble and damaged camp property on several occasions, Max was assigned to serve in the Sonderkommando, the squad of Jewish men who were forced to help their Nazi masters run the gas chambers, ovens and fire pits of the camp. The only member of his family to survive the Holocaust, Max learned first-hand how brutally human beings could treat those they considered different.
In 1944, Max was reunited with Magda, who had been in the Romani camp for years, and began to smuggle food and supplies to her using his position. Henceforward he fended for her to stay alive. Once he managed to get Magda out of the Auschwitz camp to the KZ Buchenwald by bribing a German guard with money he had found in the bodies, when he heard that the Nazi camp guards wanted to liquidate the Romani camp. In that way Max saved her from the Zigeunernacht (Gypsy Night).
When the Sonderkommando squads knew they were going to be extinguished and planned to uprise against the camp guards in October 7, 1944, Max got the information that Magda had returned to the old Romani camp. Once more he tried to get her out of the camp by hiding her in a corpse pile which came to the Sonderkommando for burning. After he found her, Max hid Magda in the bungalow of his squad that was not pleased to hide the girl, but he defended her against his mates. When the revolt started, during the burning of Crematorium IV, Max and Magda managed to escape.
For several years, Max and Magda lived in a Carpathian Mountain village, where they recovered their health, and upon the age of 18, they got married. Two years later, in 1949, Max and Magda emigrated to America where he saw the Statue of Liberty for the first time, thinking it to be the herald of America as the land of tolerance and peace. They become disillusioned with this fictitious image of America as they aren’t as well accepted as they believed they would be and both decide return to Europe after five years to try and find Magda’s Romani extended family at the Balkans.
They take residence in another small village now near Wundagore and, in 1954, Magda gave birth to their first daughter, named after her late mother, Anya Lehnsherr Eisenhardt. In 1957, not satisfied with the simple life and growing restless in the trade of a carpenter in the small mountain village, Max moved his family to the, then, Soviet Ukrainian city of Vinnitsa, so he could attend college to become an engineer.
On their very first day in the city, Max consciously used his powers for the first time since Auschwitz. He magnetically hurled a crowbar at his boss who was cheating him out of his pay. When he returned to the inn where Magda, Anya, and himself were staying, it was on fire. Magda tried to reach Anya, but could not. Max went in after them. His powers allowed him to save his wife and bring her outside, protecting them from the fire with a magnetic field. Anya was still trapped in their room on the upper floors, crying for help from the window.
Max tried to use his powers to also save his daughter, but his boss had called the KGB and they beat him up and held him down, preventing him from rescuing Anya. The child fell, burning to her death, in front of her father. In agony, Max lost control of his powers and killed the men holding him, the crowd gathered around the inn watching, and then turned a large section of the city of Vinnitsa into an electromagnetic wasteland.
Terrified by her husband's powers and overwhelmed by the tragedy, Magda fled, unknowingly pregnant with twins. As Max attempted to bury his daughter, more soldiers arrived after hearing what he had done and attacked him. After being shot, Max forced the soldiers to turn their own guns on themselves. He then turned his attention at finding his wife.
Max, at this point, sought out a forger named Georg Odekirk, who was supposed to be among the best, and asked him to create a new identity for him because he was still wanted by the authorities due to the events at Vinnitsa. Under his request, Odekirk used the Romani version of his uncle’s first name, a latinized version of his own first name and Magda’s maiden name to create for him the identity of "Erik Magnus Lehnsherr, the Sinti Romani”, so he could live more easily amongst Magda's own people at the region while he looked for her. Although many knew of his history as a Jewish prisoner, because of the number tattooed in his arm, no one knew of his life as Max Eisenhardt from that point onwards.
Magda stayed on the run in eastern Europe, evading her husband. Heavily pregnant, she found her way to Wundagore Mountain, near where her people now lived, and to the hut of Bova Ayrshire, the Midwife. After a short time staying with Bova and under her care, Magda gave birth to a boy and a girl, whom she named Wanda and Pietro.
Desperately fearing that Max would find her and the children, Magda left them behind as she fled into the wilderness, angry and scared, almost immediately after giving birth. She has not been seen since and it was assumed, given her weakened condition, that she had perished. Magneto set up a grave marker for her on Wundagore, near Bova's hut, which he sometimes visits.
In 1959, he traveled to Haifa, Israel, where worked as a volunteer orderly at a psychiatric hospital for Holocaust victims. It was there that he first met and became friends with Charles Xavier. They frequently debated the subject of mutants' coexistence with the rest of humanity, though neither revealed to the other that they were mutants. After the two men joined forces to rescue their friend, Gabrielle Haller, from Baron von Strucker and his Hydra agents and revealed their powers to each other, Max seized Hydra's Nazi gold and left for parts unknown, realizing his and Xavier's views were incompatible.
For some time after, Max attempted to stay on the path of righteousness and used his powers to help track Nazi war criminals. However, while working for one of the Western intelligence agencies (most likely the C.I.A. or the British MI6), he was also working for Mossad, the Israeli Secret Service, and instead of turning the Nazis over after he found them, he was giving them over to Israel for trial. When Max captured and attempted to give Nazi Hans Richter to Israel, agents from the Western intelligence agency decided to put an end to his activities.
Once more, Max was on his own and without a job, so he decided to use the money he had collected from Hydra to pursue his goal of hunting down Sebastian Shaw, who he knew as Dr. Klaus Schmidt. He attempts to find Shaw and exact vengeance, murdering other surviving Nazis connected to him along the way.
In 1962, Max travels to Switzerland, where he interrogates a Swiss banker as to the whereabouts of Sebastian Shaw. He is directed to Villa Gesell, where he finds two Nazi officers having a drink at the bar. After seeing an old photograph of Shaw with the two officers, he kills them and proceeds to travel to Miami to face off against Shaw.
Max eventually tracks him down to a small yacht off the American coast. His attempt at revenge fails when he is defeated by Shaw's Hellfire Club cohorts, being no match for their mutant powers. It was at this point that he meet Charles Xavier again, who were present as part of a botched U.S. Coast Guard attempt to capture Shaw.
Together and with CIA support, they gather a team of mutant to battle the Hellfire Club, who are attempting to ignite a nuclear war between the Soviet Union and the United States as part of a plot to eradicate non-mutant life on the planet and rule over a mutant new world order.
Xavier helps the mutants master their powers at his mansion, including Max. Professor X reveals to him that his memories of Chanukah with his family are his happiest moments, vastly increasing his precision and potential when applying his powers by focusing on this memory. During this time, the two become closer friends.
However, Max is still filled with hatred for Shaw and fears a mutant holocaust, despite Xavier's attempts to convince him to let go of his hatred. He also motivates Raven to become proud of her natural appearance, believing her desire to get rid of it is wrong. During a CIA mission within the Soviet Union, Max and Xavier capture Emma Frost of the Hellfire Club and extract information from her pertaining to Shaw's plans.
Ultimately, the team decides to jump into action to prevent the Cuban Missile Crisis from causing World War III. The Hellfire Club attempts to stop the CIA-sanctioned mutant team, but is defeated. During the encounter, Max confronts Shaw, who attempts to bring him to his side with promises of a new, mutant world order. As Shaw has better control of his power, he is initially able to force Max into submission, but Max tricks him into letting his guard down and removes his telepathy-resistant helmet, allowing Charles to take control of his mind and freeze him.
Max then dons the helmet to prevent Charles from stopping him. Although he states that he agrees with Shaw's goals, he won’t forgive him for murdering his foster mother and other innocent lives. Despite Xavier's pleads for him not to do so, he kills Shaw by magnetically pushing the Reichsmark coin from Auschwitz through his brain.
When the United States and the Soviet Union strike up an impromptu alliance to destroy the mutants, Max magnetically deflects the missiles, then turns them back towards the fleets. Charles asks him to be the better man, but accidentally says that the men on the ships are "just following orders”, which reminds Max of his experiences at the hands of the Nazis, provoking him to launch the missiles.
Xavier tackles him and the two engage in a fist fight, which distracts Max long enough to prevent the missiles from killing those at sea. During a subsequent attempt by the CIA liaison to shoot Max, one of the bullets he deflects strikes Xavier in the lower back, permanently crippling him. Horrified and guilty at what had transpired, Max bids farewell to his close friend, departing with Mystique and the remaining Hellfire Club members with the vow of battling humankind in order to save mutants. He later frees the White Queen, declares himself "Magneto" for the first time and establishes his first Brotherhood of Mutants.
In 1963, Magneto was accused of killing John F. Kennedy. On Friday, February 4, 1964, a trial was held against him where President Johnson noted in a closed-door meeting with the Warren Commission that their prime suspect - Erik Lehnsherr - was in custody. His private trial began the next week.
In 1973, recently declassified court records indicate that he could not refute being at Dealey Plaza's grassy knoll, but he insisted that he did not assassinate the President. As the court ordered him to prove his mutant abilities, Max bent a metal crowbar. It took the court five minutes to settle down. He told the court that he did know who killed the President and that he knows who she is and she is hiding in plain sight.
The court found Max guilty of first-degree murder and conspiring to assassinate Kennedy. He was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences in a federal correctional facility with no possibility of parole. Throughout the 60’s, he had destroyed three holding cells until 1971 when Trask Industries built an escape proof cell that kept him imprisoned.
Unknown to the authorities, Max had actually been trying to save Kennedy from the real assassin, as Kennedy was, in fact, secretly a mutant. He had been trying to deflect the bullet away, but when the police seized him they broke his concentration, causing the shot to strike Kennedy and kill him. He later explained this to Charles, who apologized for doubting him.
In 1973, while resting in his prison underneath the Pentagon, he received a visit from Pietro Maximoff, who gave him a subtle warning to "mind the glass". Confused, he watched as Quicksilver shattered the glass with his palms, showering him with shards. Quicksilver then sped Max past the guards and into the elevator, an act which gave him slight nausea. While they conversed, Pietro mentioned that his foster mother once knew of someone who could control metal.
Max was surprised to learn that Charles had come to free him, but he soon received a punch in the jaw. He bore it and did not react. When they were ambushed by guards, he nearly used his powers to kill them, but Quicksilver dispatched the guards without any casualties. Once they safely left the Pentagon, the group boarded a plane while Pietro stayed behind.
Max also met Wolverine at the plane, who informed him that he had been sent by his and Charles' older selves from the future. He was surprised, but was more willing to believe the story. During the flight, Max and Charles argued over how they abandoned each other after the Cuban Missile Crisis. He blamed Charles for the alleged deaths of Azazel, Angel, Emma Frost and Banshee. During this row, Max’s anger nearly brought down the plane.
Wolverine remarked that he had always been unpleasant, from which he deduced that they were enemies in the future. Nevertheless, Wolverine notes that he and Max are somewhat similar: they are survivors. He soon learned of the apocalyptic future that would befall them if Mystique kills Trask. He and Charles later sort out their differences over chess.
When they arrived in France, Max, Charles, Beast and Wolverine infiltrated the building where the conference was being held. They successfully interrupted Mystique's assassination of Trask and Max incapacitated a young William Stryker. Despite this, he felt that it was necessary to permanently secure their future by killing Mystique, thwarting the development of the Sentinels.
Max called a gun to his hand and prepared to shoot her. With Charles unable to stop him, Mystique attempted to flee through a window. Hank tackled him, but he magnetically fired the gun and guided the bullet into Mystique's leg as she jumped. Both Charles and Hank were physically beaten by Max, while Wolverine suffered a sudden bout of trauma at the sight of Stryker. Mystique meanwhile was injured before a horrified crowd of onlookers. He chased her out of the window, hovering down before the crowd and advanced on Mystique once more, dragging her back to him.
Mystique begged for mercy, but her pleas fell on deaf ears. Max ended up in a fight with Beast before he could kill her, causing cars and fences to react violently in the surge of power coming from him. The two landed in a nearby fountain, where Beast attempted to drown Max, but he ultimately trapped Beast within the fountain's metal ornaments. Mystique got away and so did Max. The entire scene horrified the public as well as President Nixon, therefore failing to change the future in the process.
While passing through a subway, a disguised Mystique grabbed him and pulled him off to one side with a plastic dagger at his throat. Mystique interrogated Max about why he tried to kill her. He replied that he was attempting to safeguard their future, as he knows of Trask desiring her blood. She didn't believe him at first, but Max reminds her that he has never lied to her and will never lie to her, and she relents. However, she is bitter to learn that killing one man was never enough for Max and blames him for the fact that Trask has obtained her blood. He tried to warn her about the future, but she refused to listen and disappeared again.
Max later boarded a train that was transporting Sentinels to Washington. He used his powers on the tracks to rip them free and managed to interlace metal inside the Sentinels, allowing him to control them. In Washington, he successfully infiltrated the Pentagon and retrieved his helmet. On the day the Sentinels were unveiled, Max went to the RFK Stadium and used his power to lift the entire stadium into the air. At the same time, he took control of the Sentinels and commanded them to attack the crowd, forcing the President and his retinue to take cover.
In the ensuing chaos, Max arrived and placed the stadium around the White house, with the falling rubble injuring Charles. He then placed all but one Sentinel on top of the stadium, all of which served as a barricade. He was attacked by Wolverine and Beast, and ordered the one Sentinel to attack them while he located the President. While the remaining Sentinel attacked Beast, Wolverine tried to fight Magneto. But he simply flung debris at Logan, eventually impaling his body with several pieces of rebar.
Max gave a short taunt before hurling him into the sky. Logan later fell into the Potomac River and subsequently drowned. Then, he ripped the President’s shelter out of the White House and broadcast a speech to everyone around the world, stating that the time of mutants had begun. The President came forward and demanded that Max kills him and spares everyone else. However, he replied that the President did not spare the rest of his kind (mutants) and prepared to kill them all.
Max was distracted when a Sentinel charged towards him, which he tore apart. Little did he realize that the President was none other than Mystique, who shot him non-fatally through the neck. Shortly after this, Mystique knocked him unconscious. Mystique prepared to shoot Trask once and for all, but after some persuasion from Charles, she relents. This act erases the apocalyptic future.
After Mystique removes his helmet, Max came to and realized that he could not continue with his plan with Charles standing nearby. Accepting this, he departed with a brief farewell to Charles, who let him go as they both knew that the government would execute him for his actions if he was captured.
By 1983, Max, now known as Henryk Gurszky, had established a new life in Poland with his new wife, also named Magda, and his daughter Nina, as well as a job at a factory. One day, however, he was forced to reveal his magnetic powers when a huge falling crate almost crushed one of his fellow factory workers and he stopped it in mid-air just in time. Some time later, some of his colleagues who had witnessed his powers had the Polish authorities sent to capture him, mainly due to the incident years ago at the White House, after which Magneto had become the most wanted fugitive in the world.
While Max attempted to turn himself in to save his family, Nina tried to defend her father because she didn't want him to be taken away like his parents had been. Magda tried to stop Nina, but her mutant powers activated and a swarm of birds attacked the policemen. One of them, aiming for a bird, accidentally fires an arrow, killing Nina and Magda, who was holding her daughter. An incredibly furious, devastated and again by his lonesome Max promptly murders all of the policemen by magnetically manipulating his daughter's locket, after which he tearfully cradles his family's corpses.
While he attempts to extract his revenge on the fellow factory workers, suddenly Apocalypse appears at the scene along with Angel, Psylocke and Storm. When Magneto asks him who he is, he responds by murdering all the workers with a simple movement of his hand. He then persuades an astonished Max to join him. They then teleport away to the ruins of Auschwitz, where Max, after some encouragement from Apocalypse, destroys the remnants, finally getting some closure.
While Scott, Jean, Kurt and newcomer Jubilation Lee go to watch Return of the Jedi, Apocalypse, Max and the other Horsemen attack the mansion and kidnap Xavier, who Apocalypse wanted as his new body due to his telepathic powers, after which they head to Cairo. Xavier tries to convince Max that he still has a good nature within him, but his pleas fall in deaf ears as his pain too great after the loss of all his family for the fourth time. Xavier is taken into Apocalypse’s vault for the transference procedure to take place.
At Apocalypse's behest, Max uses his newly enhanced powers to control Earth's magnetic poles, causing widespread destruction across the planet and mass casualties. Shortly thereafter, the X-Men arrive and battle the Horsemen, though they are unable to penetrate the magnetic field that Max conjures up around himself. After some persuasion from Quicksilver and Mystique, he is finally able to see the error of his ways and allies himself with the X-Men, turning against Apocalypse, who is outraged at his lieutenant's betrayal.
While Max bombards his former leader with numerous metal projectiles, Apocalypse conjures up a protective shield. His efforts are soon joined by Cyclops, shooting at the shield with his optic blasts, and Charles, who attacks Apocalypse's mind on the astral plane. However, the ancient mutant proves too powerful even for their combined might, taking all of Max’s and Scott's attacks, and swiftly beating Charles' astral projection to the ground.
However, Max and Charles are then also joined by Jean, who finally helps Max dismantle Apocalypse's armor and frees Charles’ mind by tapping into the Phoenix Force. Once En Sabah Nur's frail true unarmored form is exposed, Max pierces him with numerous metal projectiles while Jean subsequently incinerates him. Max returns to rebuild Charles' destroyed mansion. Though Charles asked him to stay, he declined and left. Pietro Maximoff observes his departing father from a distance, ultimately deciding not to tell him about their relation yet.
As a result, Max and Charles are finally able to reaffirm their friendship and this time part on friendly terms, with Max’s name being cleared, as the world bore witness to him greatly contributing to the defeat of Apocalypse in the final battle. While acknowledging that Charles had been ultimately right about him and Raven, Max observed that the rest of the world continued to mistrust mutants. However, Charles, who is bald after Apocalypse's trial to take over his body and mind, realizes that there will always be threats human and mutant alike and decides to train his students to become the first formation of the so called X-Men.
After this events, in 1985, Max found his way into the Savage Land, a hidden Antarctic environment with dinosaurs and primitive people. There he stablished a fortress and studied, becoming skilled in various areas due to knowledge he had found there. He became a master engineer and geneticist, creating the group later known as the Savage Land Mutates, who were originally members of the human inhabitants of the place, most of them being from the Swamp Men. Amongst them are Sauron, Brainchild, Amphibius, Barbarus, Equilibrius, Gaza, Leash, Lorelei, Lupo, Lupa, Piper, Vertigo, Whiteout and Worm.
It was also during these genetic experiments at the Savage Land that Magneto, using a lock of hair his first wife had granted him upon the birth of their first daughter, Anya, created a feral clone of her, Lied Nova. Replacing her X-gene by a feral one, as he believed hers wasn’t active, and later adding some animal DNA into her mix, the mutant later known as Speeding Hawk came to be. As the clone grew up, he considered her too feral and not being able to bring himself to kill her, just took her with him when he left the Savage Land, after hearing news that the USA wanted to pass a law to oblige the registration of mutants, which worried him and caused him to return to civilization. He brought Lied with him and then let her go into the world by her lonesome until their recent reencounter.
Years later, in 2000, Magneto and Mystique had come in contact again and were reforming the Brotherhood of Mutants. He also reencountered Charles while attending to a Senate session about the law for Mutant Registration he had heard of, making it actually real. He had a plan to solve that problem and, using a high-tech machine, assembled by the use of his magnetic powers, he attempted to mutate the world's leaders at an UN Summit, unaware that it would cause humans to lose their molecular structure. Magneto is aware however that his use of the machine is potentially lethal to him, therefore, his need for a substitute.
He asks Mystique to hand Rogue, who is under Raven’s foster care, over to him. The girl escapes home with Mystique’s help without his knowledge and Max is upset with the fact he’ll have to capture the girl now. Magneto sends Mystique to lure Rogue into capture in order to use her for his machine. She shape-shifts into Iceman and convinces her to leave the X-Mansion, where she was safe. Rogue does so, which eventually leads to her capture by the Brotherhood at the train station, where Magneto has an altercation with Wolverine and Charles fails to convince him into giving up his plan.
When, already at The Statue of Liberty and with the machine and Rogue ready, he was warned of the dangers of the machine by Jean Grey and Storm, Magneto refused to believe them and proceeds to transfer his power to Rogue and use her to power the machine. However, it is destroyed by Wolverine and Cyclops before it could affect the humans on Ellis Island and in the ensuing fight, he ends up losing consciousness due to his combined efforts. Following this, Magneto was captured by the government and locked up in a plastic prison where he is visited by Charles and they play chess while discussing the law that didn't pass due to Raven's interference by taking the place of Senator Kelly.
Many months passed and Magneto was kept in his plastic prison with his own security guard, Mitchell Laurio. Colonel William Stryker, while on a visit, brainwashed Magneto using a serum drop to the nape of his neck, forcing him to divulge information about Cerebro and the X-Mansion. Xavier payed him a visit with regards to the attack on the President, but Magneto had no answer for him. The two were incapacitated by gas and Charles was taken by Stryker. Later on, Magneto was able to escape from prison using iron particles extracted from Laurio's bloodstream, which had been previously injected by Mystique. He proceeded to kill the other guards before finally escaping.
After saving the X-Men from crashing the X-Jet, he and Mystique form a temporary alliance with them in order to stop Stryker from killing all of the world's mutants, with Stryker using his own version of Cerebro at Alkali Lake to accomplish the task. Wolverine intends to enter the base first, but Max points out that he cannot activate the spillway mechanism, and instead has Mystique enter the base. In order to use his version of Cerebro, Stryker uses his son Jason to manipulate Xavier, now Stryker's hostage, to kill all of the world's mutants.
Magneto and the others infiltrate the underground base after Mystique disables the security. Magneto and Mystique then arrive at the Cerebro chamber, where the former opens the doors and halts Xavier's mental attack. Magneto thus saves the mutant race, but he is not content. He levitates and begins to rearrange the machine. With Cerebro reversed, Magneto has Xavier, through Jason’s manipulation, kill all of the humans. He gives a short farewell to Charles and proceeds to seal the chamber once more.
Xavier soon begins to attack all of the humans, incapacitating Stryker. Magneto comes across Stryker while the latter is suffering from Xavier's mental attack. Magneto binds Stryker to a rock, where he is presumably killed by the flood from the dam. He then leaves Alkali Lake in a helicopter. The X-Men intervene in time and prevent Magneto's reprogramming from being fully carried out.
Realizing that the direct approach to solving the homo-sapien problem wasn’t working Magneto turned his focus to more subtle options. Developing the Brotherhoods network of members and completing smaller missions as they inch their way toward a global solution.
As I transfered Max's bio here, I've noticed that I need to change a few things and add some more to some fields we didn't seem to have before. Also, revise the power section, add the events of Dark Phoenix to his history and get his graphics done too. I'll do all that when it's not 7:00 AM and I haven't slept yet. Anyway, his bio is already very complete and it'll be nice to see how a bio looks like when complete.
